Women's Tango Shoes - YuyoBrujo
Libertas Atelier dress by Libusha Steele

Our November Gift Guide focuses on independent local makers in the UK. We have met some amazing artists and makers along the way and we think they deserve a big shout out. Here at Yuyo Brujo we always appreciate the craft and care that goes into beautiful things and the following creators won’t disappoint you. Perhaps this year we all make a point to #shopsmall and contribute to these amazing makers. We hope you will enjoy our selection.

The Glam Tango Dress

No party? No problem. Who says you cannot glam-lounge at home? Put your most fabulous dress on and your tango shoes and plan your next video call to show it all off. Libertas Atelier has been making tango dresses for years and lately we cannot keep our eyes off her glamorous, yet comfortable designs. Libusha is the mastermind behind Libertas Atelier and she designs and creates these beautiful pieces in London. See dresses here.

The Inspiring Print

Women's Tango Shoes - YuyoBrujo
Aatei print by Chen Snads

If you have been following Yuyo Brujo for a while you know we have a little soft spot for this artist. Chen Sands creates mesmerizing prints under the name of Aatei. On her own words Aatei means: “A poetic spelling of the Filipino word “ate” meaning elder sister. Not just reserved for those in your direct family, “ate” is a term used by Filipinos to show respect to any girl or woman slightly older than you. aatei is my reimagining of this term – to be used as endearment as well as respect towards women of all ages that have meaningfully touched your life. These first art works under aatei are my visual thank-yous to all my ‘elder’ sisters who have helped, guided and inspired me personally. I hope these pieces bring to you the same beauty and joy that the women I take inspiration from bring me.”

Chen is currently based in Cornwall and shipping her prints worldwide. Read more of her story here.

The Lux Item

Women's Tango Shoes - YuyoBrujo
Bomber jacket by Sophie Darling

We discovered Sophie Darling during a visit in Brighton and almost by chance. We stepped into her shop, her world, and we were immediately drawn by the uniqueness of her print designs. She designs clothing, including dreamy kimonos and exquisite bomber jackets, as well as scarves, cushions and of course, face masks. Think of these as a small luxurious treat for your everyday errands. Sophie Darling says: “I work with talented people in my local community from pattern cutters to seamstresses to create hand made, luxury garments where the print and pattern design do the talking. We are not just about fashion, we are about print, expression and versatility”. Discover her work here.
